This great science fiction read is not too long! It is about a boy who lives in a community where there is no pain and no suffering but there are lots of rules. When he turns 12 he takes on a special role within the community which makes him aware of things that the people are missing out on. He makes some key decisions which change his life and maybe those of others .....I wondered what comment on our current society the author might be making through this story. I was also interested in the things that had been kept in the community and the things that they no longer thought were safe or important.
Recommended for: anyone in the intermediate

I have just read this book and really recommend it! But at the end it was really sad. :-(
