Then by Morris Gleitzman.

I personally think that this is a great book. I recommend this book for ages 10+ but it is a little distressing at times.
The main character is called Felix and is taken from his point of view, a Jewish orphan caught in the middle of the Holocaust. It is sad, happy, scary, exciting and I recommend this to anyone who likes stores about the war, likes books based on true stories or has read once or now (The other books in the trilogy.)
Here is the blurb:
I had a plan for me and Zelda. Pretend to be someone else. Find new parents, be safe forever.
Then the Nazis came.
My name is Felix. This is my story.
Then is the second in a series of children’s novels about Felix, a Jewish orphan caught in the middle of the Holocaust, from Australian author Morris Gleitzman.

Finally, this is a a good and quick-ish read and I would recommend reading the first book first, but it isn't essential.

  1. Thanks Dudley - we are going to be looking at Conflict in term 3, so this book might get you thinking about what living in a war like or oppressive situation could be like.
